Study on the technical development and implementation of alco-interlocks in the road safety area
The study focused on the opportunity of making compulsory at EU level the fitting of alcohol interlocks to all new types of commercial passenger and goods transport vehicles.
The study described the role of alcohol interlocks within drink-driving policies and illustrated the technical requirements and geographical breadth of these devices.
A cost effectiveness analysis in relation with the main road safety’s goals was undertaken and recommendations about a new system of EU rules on the compulsory fitting of alcohol interlocks were put forth.
