SITRAM PROJECT: Impact Assessment of a Catenary-Free Tramway System
Co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development within the “Industry 2015” programme, the SITRAM project was aimed at improving the performance of the tramway systems in terms of safety, energy efficiency, environmental impact, regularity of service and availability.
TRT developed a “demonstrator” of the potential of the TramWave, a patented catenary-free technology, with the aim of promoting innovative tram system not only as a new technology but also as a key pillar of a strategy for sustainable urban electro-mobility.
The “demonstrator“ included a descriptive module, which helps to choose the more appropriate urban transport system according to each specific context, and a dynamic and quantitative economic and financial assessment tool, to explore the tramway system feasibility on a simplified level.
