Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Milan and its metropolitan area

TRT has supported the Municipality of Milan and the Mobility, environment and territory Agency (Agenzia Mobilità Ambiente e Territorio – AMAT) in the development of the Sustainable Urban Mobily Plan (SUMP) of Milan and its metropolitan area (respectively 1.2 and 4 million inhabitants). As part of the assignment, TRT participated in the development of the following activities:

• Preparation of the Plan procedures with regard to the European Commission guidelines for the development of Sustainable Urban Mobily Plans (Eltis Plus);
• Collaboration in the definition of alternative scenarios and their evaluation for the purpose of selecting the measures to be promoted as the Plan Scenario;
• Participation in the Scientific Committee appointed by the Milanese Mayor as the supervisory authority for the Plan’s activities.

The procedures for adoption and approval of the Milanese SUMP were quite complex. In February 2015, the City Council proceeded with the first approval of the Plan proposal and, after several steps, in November 2018 the SUMP was finally brought into force.
