The study discussed the EU legislative framework governing drivers’ driving times and rest periods and described how the social legislation in the commercial road sector was implemented across the Member States..
An assessment was undertaken of the current enforcement practices of a selection of 11 Member States, which together represent almost 71% of the annual turnover generated by the EU road freight transport sector.
The study provided recommendations for future policy options in this field and with a specific focus on the measures to improve the harmonization of enforcement practices.
